Appia: a new shared material.
An unprecedented collaboration between Emporio Skin and Atlas Plan
In the landscape of contemporary design, material becomes language. With Appia, the new finish developed by Emporio Skin and Atlas Plan, this language takes the form of an urban, poetic and rigorous texture: a tribute to metropolitan sidewalks, to surfaces shaped and softened by the rhythm of the city. A genuine material that translates the essence of urban life into a design signature.
Appia is the result of a truly groundbreaking collaboration: for the first time, two companies have worked together to create the same aesthetic expressed across different materials, bringing porcelain stoneware and melamine-faced panels into a single coherent vision. A synergy that goes beyond mere chromatic coordination to establish a shared material system.
A palette that speaks the language of the city
Appia unfolds in six colour variations – Cenere, Sabbia, Reef, Carbone, Sale, Bruno – a tonal range inspired by mineral surfaces, the subtle vibration of stone and concrete, the quiet cadence of urban pathways. Each nuance is precisely calibrated to build refined harmonies and monolithic compositions with a strong visual balance.
Porcelain and Melamine: two materials, one identity
The most innovative aspect of Appia lies in its perfect continuity: porcelain stoneware—ideal for high-performance worktops—and melamine, designed for doors and architectural volumes, share the exact same finish. This makes it possible to design monolithic kitchens and bathrooms, where tops and fronts merge in a seamless aesthetic continuum, allowing pure form to emerge without interruption.
The debut at Sicam 2025
During Sicam 2025, Emporio Skin and Atlas Plan presented Appia through a mirrored narrative: each stand showcased a monolithic counter that immediately revealed the strength of the concept. A tangible demonstration of how material coherence can become architecture, turning a single volume into a statement of contemporary essentiality.
